Freedom, empowerment and continuous learning are the ethos of the HXLS work culture. Every teacher or staff who enters the portals of the school is empowered through progressive workshops, coaching, mentoring and study missions. The school’s Professional Development Programmes provide our faculty with the tools to exhibit responsiveness and flexibility to a child’s world and changing needs.
The HXLS teacher is the spark that ignites the desire of ‘Learning to Learn’. To ensure that they are always up to date and have access to innovative techniques of educating students, our teachers go through extensive training and curriculum research of as many as 300 hours per year. Fifty per cent of this training is led by international facilitators, thought leaders or experts in the field of education and teacher training and coaching..
A hallmark of the schools is its strong leadership and management; the management team boasts of three alumni from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and one alumnus from the Harvard Business School as well as education professionals from across the globe. An in-house team of 18 instructional coaches and curriculum designers work continuously with the teachers inside and outside the classroom to help them hone their practice towards realising their potential.
Voted a Great Place to Work® by the survey conducted by the Great Place to Work® Institute for several years in a row, the schools constantly focus on forging trusting, inclusive and caring relationships amongst all its stakeholders. With access to some of the best resources and infrastructure in the country, the school constantly focuses on ensuring that the organisation remains responsive to the needs of each of its members. The school has an active staff welfare programme that includes a Staff Welfare Committee to deal with applications for financial support and fee waiver, a Professional Development Committee that focuses on career progression and learning and development of teachers, after work staff clubs with activity centres to name a few. Facilities such as a playgroup, crèche and stay back programme are available for staff wards. Regular celebrations with staff and their family members, such as the Family Day, ensure that the bond between teachers, staff and their families and the schools is strengthened.
